I was able to cut the branches that were on the truck with a pull saw to free it. Glad I have a hard hat even if it didn’t get tested today.

I could’ve done it last night, but it was too dark to be confident it was safe

I’ll know more once the ice that formed overnight is gone, but it looks like the only damage is a few scratches on the hood, one somewhat long one on the roof,  and two small dents in the roof. Overall it could’ve been MUCH worse.

Yeah, it split from the trunk and was still partially attached to the trunk. It looks like it just slowly came down as the ice built up.

And for added good news needing to get rid of that monster means I am forced to buy a chainsaw.

Yeah, I had one of those come down fast, with vastly different results. My rear window was completely blown out and my windshield was cracked. All of this while I’m sitting on my stoop having a cup of tea in the morning.

Why did it break both the front and the rear, one might ask. Why did it break both the front and the rear? Someone asked. Well! the branch fell on a power line, then blew out my rear window, then the power line still had hold of it and flung it back up to then crack my windshield.

I suppose I have the powerline to thank as far as avoiding major body damage, I got away with a dent on my roof, that could probably be mostly rep aired.

Sounds like it turned out about as well as it could!

From the look of where that branch peeled off the tree, it may have been waiting to come down for a while. Might be worth checking out the health of the rest of the tree; I doubt you’ll get this lucky again (if so, go play the lottery too!)
